๐Ÿ†˜ Emergency Relief for Humanitarian Crises Across ASEAN

Your contribution helps provide life-saving emergency assistance to communities affected by humanitarian crises across Southeast Asiaโ€”including armed conflicts, political violence, mass displacement, persecution, and human rights emergencies. Support emergency shelter, food, medical care, protection, and recovery for families caught in crises.

๐ŸŒ ASEAN Humanitarian Crisis Overview

The Challenge: Southeast Asia faces multiple ongoing humanitarian crises affecting millions of people. From Myanmar's civil war to refugee situations across the region, from ethnic persecution to political violenceโ€”vulnerable families need urgent humanitarian assistance to survive and rebuild their lives.

Myanmar Civil War: Since February 2021, Myanmar has experienced the worst humanitarian crisis in Southeast Asia. Over 2.6 million internally displaced, 50,000+ civilians killed, 18 million needing humanitarian assistance. Military attacks on civilians, burning of villages, airstrikes on schools and hospitals. Families flee into jungles without food, shelter, or medical care.

Rohingya Crisis: 1 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh camps, stateless and unable to return to Myanmar. Overcrowded camps, inadequate food and healthcare, no education for children. Desperate conditions drive dangerous sea journeys seeking safety.

Ethnic Persecution: Karen, Kachin, Chin, Shan, and other ethnic minorities in Myanmar face military attacks, forced displacement, and human rights violations. Entire communities displaced for decades living in camps along borders.

Political Violence: Political crises, coups, and civil unrest across ASEAN create humanitarian emergencies. Families flee violence, face arbitrary detention, and lose livelihoods.

Statelessness: 4.2 million stateless persons in Southeast Asia lack citizenship, legal identity, and access to basic services. Vulnerable to exploitation, trafficking, and abuse.

๐Ÿšจ Immediate Humanitarian Needs

Emergency Shelter: Displaced families need tents, tarpaulins, and emergency shelter materials protecting them from weather and providing basic safety and dignity.

Food Assistance: Families fleeing crises have no food. Emergency food packages, hot meals, and nutrition support prevent starvation and malnutrition.

Medical Care: Conflict injuries, disease outbreaks, maternal emergencies, and chronic illnesses require immediate medical treatment. Mobile clinics and emergency healthcare save lives.

Clean Water & Sanitation: Displacement camps and crisis zones lack clean water and toilets. Water purification, wells, and sanitation facilities prevent disease outbreaks.

Protection Services: Women, children, and vulnerable groups need protection from violence, trafficking, and exploitation. Safe spaces, child protection, and GBV prevention are critical.

Humanity: Human suffering must be addressed wherever it is found. The purpose of humanitarian action is to protect life and health and ensure respect for human beings.

Neutrality: Humanitarian actors must not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious, or ideological nature.

Impartiality: Humanitarian action must be carried out on the basis of need alone, giving priority to the most urgent cases.

Independence: Humanitarian action must be autonomous from political, economic, military, or other objectives.
